Mechanical Engineer – Building Systems & Data Center Projects

A growing engineering consultancy is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with 4+ years of experience in building systems design to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically complex projects—including data centers, healthcare facilities, and commercial buildings—while advancing toward professional licensure and leadership responsibilities.
🔧 Role Overview
You’ll be responsible for designing and coordinating complete mechanical systems for a variety of building types. From early concept through construction, you’ll collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-performance, code-compliant solutions.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- Design HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for building projects
- Conduct site evaluations and existing condition assessments
- Collaborate with clients to define project scope, goals, and resources
- Perform code analysis and ensure compliance with applicable standards
- Develop engineering deliverables aligned with budget and schedule
- Create and manage Revit models and coordinate with other disciplines
- Prepare contract documents, calculations, and specifications using CADD and design software
- Select appropriate materials, equipment, and components
- Review and check technical documentation for accuracy and coordination
- Conduct quantity take-offs and assist with cost estimating
- Stay current with mechanical codes, standards, and industry best practices
- Participate in construction administration, including submittal reviews and site visits
🎯 Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 4+ years of experience in mechanical design within the A/E industry
- Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
- Experience with data center projects or other mission-critical environments
- PE license preferred or active pursuit of licensure
- Solid understanding of the International Building Code and mechanical standards
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
- U.S. Citizenship required due to potential access to classified information
