Principal Acoustics Consultant Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and accomplished Principal Acoustics Consultant to lead our team and contribute to the growth and success of our consultancy. This role combines technical expertise in acoustics with leadership responsibilities, including business development, client management, and team mentorship. Key Responsibilities
Business Development:
• Lead business development efforts to identify, pursue, and secure new opportunities in the field of acoustics consultancy.
• Build and nurture relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and other key stakeholders to expand the company’s client base.
• Develop winning proposals, including technical approaches, fee estimates, and project timelines, in collaboration with the leadership team.
• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions, positioning the organization as a leader in the field.
• Drive revenue growth by identifying market trends, leveraging your network, and exploring new opportunities in emerging sectors.
Technical Expertise and Project Delivery:
• Oversee the delivery of complex acoustics projects, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with client expectations.
• Conduct advanced acoustical analyses, field measurements, and modeling using tools like CATT, EASE, SoundPlan, or Cadna/A.
• Provide high-level technical guidance and solutions for projects in architectural acoustics, environmental noise, vibration control, and electroacoustics.
• Ensure the timely completion of deliverables, maintaining quality and budgetary standards across all projects.
Leadership and Team Development:
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level consultants, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and innovation.
• Collaborate with the leadership team to set strategic goals and contribute to the overall direction of the organization.
• Promote knowledge-sharing and professional development opportunities within the team.
• Champion diversity and inclusivity within the workplace, encouraging team members to thrive in a supportive environment.
Client Engagement:
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their needs and delivering tailored acoustical solutions.
• Maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring high satisfaction and repeat business.
• Provide strategic insights to clients, based on your expertise and industry knowledge, to enhance project outcomes.
Qualifications Required:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Acoustics, Engineering, Architecture, Physics, or a related field with a strong technical foundation in acoustics.
• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in acoustical consulting, with demonstrated leadership in technical delivery and business development.
• Proven track record of leading projects and securing new business opportunities in the acoustics field.
• Advanced expertise with acoustical modeling, analysis, and measurement tools (e.g., SoundPlan, Cadna/A, CATT, EASE).
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships and lead diverse teams.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with experience in delivering complex, high-profile projects on time and within budget.
Preferred:
• Professional certifications such as INCE Bd. Cert., LEED, AIA, or PE.
• Experience with 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or SketchUp.
• Knowledge of market trends and emerging technologies within the acoustics industry.
